From September 2002 through August 2009 teams from Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire,
Maine, Vermont and New York came together for a weekend of great softball where all the proceeds go to a wonderful cause.
The tournament was designed to help local citizens in their battle against cancer by donating the tournament
proceeds to the Community Cancer Center at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
Cancer is a cruel and inhumane disease
and while more and more people are surviving their battles, too many still lose their lives. One day a cure will be found
but until it is too many people will continue to lose their battle. This tournament was a chance for strong people to
have fun, while raising money to help those who aren't as fortunate with their health. Someday if we can find a
cure for cancer, everybody wins!!!
The tournament regretfully ended in 2010 because of a scheduling
conflict with the Currier family. The hope had been that tournament would be back in 2011, however with a growing
family it's just hard for the Currier family to commit to a weekend almost two hours away from home at a busy time of year.
We also lost all of our sponsors due to alcohol issues at the last tournament and could not convince them to stay on board
if we tried to restrict the consumption. We
would like to thank everyone for 8 tremendous years in helping a cause near and dear to the heart of the Currier family.
The community did a lot to help fight cancer, something you should all be very proud of. In the end a few
poor sports and their alcohol put a hurt on this tournament that just couldn't be overcome, however most of you were awesome
to be around during the history of the event and we can't thank you enough for all you did!
