Dick Currier Memorial Softball Tournament Rules only, these are not the rules for any other tournaments we run.** ^^

Your draw is final, if you don't like it back out of the tournament and we can negoiate a refund.   If you show up then you are accepting your draw and need to stay quiet about it if your team loses.

Players and a bookkeeper are the only ones allowed in the dugout.   Wives/girlfriends, friends, children are no longer allowed in the dugouts.   Umpires deal with enough from the players, we will no longer subject them to verbal abuse from non players in the dugout.

All bats must be
ASA certified. If a team uses an illegal bat one time the batter will be out, if any illegal bat is used after a team has already forfeited an out for using any illegal bat the game will be a forfeit at the opposing teams discretion. Umpires will do their best to examine bats prior to each game.

It is the opposing coaches responsibility to protest a bat being used during the game. A batter using an illegal bat will only be called out after receiving at least one pitch during their at bat. If a protest occurs before the batter sees at least one pitch, the batter will simply be told the bat must be removed from the game.

ASA pitching arc rules of 6-10 feet will be enforced. We are no longer an unlimited arc tournament.

Balls hitting the plate or mat are strikes.

All batters begin their at bat with a 1-1 count.

Batters DO NOT have a foul ball to waste with two strikes. Any foul ball with two strikes will be an out. We need to keep games moving and hitters swinging.

Metal spikes are NOT allowed, exceptions will not be made.

Stealing is NOT allowed.

Because we need to stay on schedule, no inning will be started after a game reaches 90 minutes. If a game reaches 90 minutes during the visiting teams at bat, the game will continue until the home teams at bat is completed (unless the home team is winning, then the game will be called after the visting at bat is completed for the inning).

Pitchers must stand on the pitching rubber when pitching.

Mercy rule is 15 runs after 4 innings and 10 runs after 5 or 6 innings.

Teams must submit rosters to a tournament official (not an umpire) no later than immediately following their first game. Coaches can add players to their roster any time during the tournament, as long as that player has not played for another team.

Players may not play for more than one team in the tournament.

Players may NOT play for an upper division team and a lower division team.

Teams may use a line up of up to 12 players, but not less than 9 players. With 9 or 10 players in the field at all times. Lines up with 9 players will NOT take an automatic out in their 10th spot.

Beginning in 2007 each team is limited to 5 HRs over the fence per game (2 for lower division teams), after that all balls over the fence will be a foul ball. There is no foul to waste with two strikes.

Teams may use courtesy runners for injured players only. The last out is the automatic courtesy runner.

All balls that roll past the fence, but not under or over the fence, are live balls until rolling out of play.

Catchers may not block the plate without a reasonable play on the ball.

** Please check back periodically as additional rules may be added.

^^ An official rules page will be given to each coach when they register their team on the first day of the tournament. The official rules page given to coaches upon their registration will have authority over rules listed on this page.
